Bitcoin

Remember kids. Hash rate go up doesn't mean security go up.

  • Bitcoin hash rate hits a new ATH! This was also the biggest increase in hashrate in a 3 month period in the last 5 years.

  • At the same time, everyone’s favorite Bitcoin Maxi Michael Saylor had some cringe takes about Bitcoin network security. Goes to show even with billions held in Bitcoin, You still can have to learn the fundamentals.

You may have seen this photo around.

The Skull of Satoshi has sparked a lot of conversation (and outrage). For the uninformed, Greenpeace is an environmental non-profit whose been taking jabs at Bitcoin to #changethecode to make it more green by switching to PoS. An artist named Von Won was commissioned to do an art installation on Bitcoin.

Once it dropped, Crypto Twitter went crazy and lit him up. A couple days later after having many private conversations with educated Bitcoiners. He posted this great tweet thread on his open mind to Bitcoin. Everyone should read.

Ordinals

Bitcoin fees will never be the same thanks to Ordianals.

  • In a move of pure degeneracy. A copy of every Bored Ape from the OG collection has officially been inscribed on Bitcoin as an Ordinal. Mind you, these are not done in any official capacity. Just people spending close to a million dollars in BTC fees to inscribe copies. Not sure what else to say but hey. At least theirs a copy of the art forever on Bitcoin nodes.

  • Been hearing a lot about PSBT’s and curious how they work? The co-founder of Magic Eden did a good tweet thread breaking it down.

  • Ordinals is approaching 700k inscriptions 📈

  • Twitter user and Data wizard Domodata has updated the Ordinals marketplace Dune analytics page to support Magic Eden and Gamma.

  • OrdinalHub released their own Ordinals Explorer that’s pretty slick!

Stacks

Steady stacking.

  • Emblem Vault supports the Stacks NFT standard. This opens up Stacks NFT to the liquidity and marketplaces that exist on ETH.

  • sBTC weekly update

  • Apollo.xyz adds another tool to their smart contract management platform. You can now easily raffle off items to NFT holders of a collection in an easy way. It reads the contracts to see who is an active holder, and picks a winner at random. I’ve definitely been guilty of using a lame tool like this to do a giveaway.

  • Hiro released a new central place to stack your STX. They integrate directly with the contracts from different stacking providers on Stacks and let you use any of the above from one easy UI. This also incorporates the new “Continous Stacking” feature that launched with the Stacks 2.1 upgrade. Check out lockstacks.com

Lightning

  • LNCapital released version 19.1 of their popular Lightning node management dashboard.

  • Synthetic fiat. That’s what Kollider’s new web wallet allows you to use. You can store BTC in their wallet and use it like normal, or you can convert your BTC into a synthetic stablecoin pegged to a specific currency (say the US dollar) and not deal with BTC fluctuations. Interesting idea.

  • Plebbin wants to be the new Craigslist with Bitcoin-denominated everything. No ads or KYC.

  • Lightning Labs released their first node upgrade of the year. LND 0.16 beta has been released bringing updates I don’t understand.

Thats it for this week.
Love yall!
