Bitcoin + DeFi = BitFi

BitFi - The all-encompassing term that includes the decentralized finance applications being built inside the Bitcoin ecosystem.

This group includes payment protocols like the Lightning network, as well as more full-featured DeFi platforms like Sovryn, and ALEX. We'll be covering the latter today.

The tagline on the ALEX homepage reads "Bring your Bitcoin to Life: launch new projects, earn interest, rewrite finance, reinvent culture."

Those are bold statements for an up-and-coming DeFi startup building on a newer blockchain like Stacks. But the more I interact with the team behind ALEX, The more that vision of the future seems inevitable. My first interview was with Chiente Hsu, Co-founder of ALEX. Highly recommend this interview if you haven't seen it.This week I had Chan Ahn, Chief Technology Officer at ALEXGO on the podcast.

Chan Ahn is the CTO of ALEXGO, which is building financial services on Bitcoin, the most decentralized and secure blockchain. Prior to joining ALEXGO, Chan spent 17 years in the finance industry, building financial derivatives with firms, including Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan and Credit Suisse, in Hong Kong, New York and London. Chan has PhD in Computational Finance and BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science both from Imperial College London. I wanted to get Chan on the show to talk about how ALEX thinks through the process of building applications. If you haven't had a chance to use the app yet, First do that.
